![]() ![]() ![]() Very briefly, a Markov chain in this context is a way of saying "When I've come across this bunch of items, one after another, more than likely I'll find one of these other ones next." In information science, the "items" can be any chunks of information, but in this case we're talking about words. It has a shit-ton of different applications, but for our purposes I'll focus on the information sciences aspects. In mathematics, there's a concept called a Markov chain. I have a half-educated guess about how the predictive text algorithm works that may somewhat explain this. ![]()
